FAQ
When do ETFs pay dividends?
Most ETFs pay quarterly (March, June, September, December) or monthly. A few pay annually or semi-annually. The calendar above shows every ETF's actual payment month so you can see which funds pay in which part of the year.
What is the ex-dividend date?
The ex-dividend date is the cutoff. You must own shares before this date to receive the next dividend. Buy on or after the ex-date and you miss that payment. The pay date comes a few days to a few weeks later.
Which ETFs pay monthly dividends?
Most covered call ETFs (JEPI, JEPQ, QYLD, XYLD, RYLD, SPYI), many bond ETFs, mortgage REITs, and a handful of income-focused funds pay monthly. The calendar flags every monthly-paying fund in the Fire Tools universe.
When does SCHD pay dividends?
SCHD pays quarterly, typically in late March, June, September, and December. Exact ex-dividend and pay dates vary each quarter and are shown above.
How do I build a monthly income stream from quarterly ETFs?
Combine ETFs that pay in different months. For example, SCHD pays March/June/September/December, while many dividend aristocrat ETFs pay February/May/August/November. Mixing three to four quarterly payers across staggered cycles can produce income every month.
